Lovenkrands wants to remain a Ranger with new boss Le Guen |
Peter Lovenkrands hopes to play a key part of incoming Rangers manager Paul Le Guen's new era, despite only having nine games left on his current deal. The in-form Danish international said: "I'm waiting to hear more from Rangers and we'll see what happens towards the end of the season.
"It's a bit upsetting to think that it could be the end of my Rangers career, but that's life in football.
"Staying at Rangers is my favourite option and I hope I am still here."
The rejuvenated 26-year-old has made his mark with 18 goals this season but the Ibrox outfit have yet to make a move towards keeping him.
With Frenchman Le Guen taking over from Alex McLeish at the end of the campaign, Lovenkrands is feeling uncertain about where his future will ultimately lie.
"You know leaving Rangers is going to happen at some point. It's just unfortunate it could happen this year.
"Right now my agent is controlling everything, but there is no deadline," he said.
"I am just focusing on playing. Rangers have a lot on their mind as well with a new coach coming in.
"Hopefully if nothing happens there will be other clubs interested."

Lovenkrands has been linked with a switch to Spain, and his sparkling form in the Champions League this season has brought him to the attention of potential buyers.
Villarreal striker Diego Forlan said recently that Lovenkrands could be a big star in La Liga.
And even though he is certain to be in demand, the player is keen to stay in Glasgow.
"Rangers have said they were interested in keeping me so hopefully we can find a solution.
"But I have to weigh up all the options because I only have nine games left and I don't have a contract afterwards," he added.
Former Lyon coach Le Guen is currently assessing McLeish's squad, but with Rangers chasing Hearts for second spot in the Bank of Scotland Premier League - and a Champions League place next season - the Dane is keeping his focus on the field.
Le Guen made a flying visit to look behind the scenes, both at Ibrox and training ground, Murray Park, last week.
However, Lovenkrands said: "I didn't even know he was here, and right now the team is just focusing on playing football, and we just want to win games.
"It is different to know someone is watching you but I am just trying to stay in the team."
