Rangers exit looms for two more
Pierre-Fanfan arrived at Ibrox in the summer

Rangers will listen to offers for defender Jose-Karl Pierre-Fanfan and striker Steven Thompson during the January transfer window.

Thompson and Pierre-Fanfan, who arrived from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer, have not been first-team regulars.

Rangers boss Alex McLeish does not want to lose either player but understood their frustrations at not featuring.

"If it came to the end of January and there were people interested then we would listen," said the manager.

Forwards Federico Nieto and Francis Jeffers are departing after unsuccessful loan spells.
I think Tommo would look at the situation and ask where he is in the pecking order

But Scotland striker Thompson on Saturday again found himself behind the rejuvenated Peter Lovenkrands and fit-again Nacho Novo in the Ibrox pecking order against Dundee United.

And competition will be tougher once new signing Kris Boyd is eligible and Dado Prso returns to fitness.

Thompson has been linked with Aberdeen, Cardiff City and Sunderland, with England his likely preferred destination.

"It's tough for the strikers like Tommo who are not starting the games, but we need a squad," said McLeish.

"I am in no hurry to get rid of him. I think Tommo would look at the situation and ask where he is in the pecking order."

Frenchman Pierre-Fanfan, who arrived on a Bosman, has spent the majority of the campaign on the bench as McLeish has preferred Sotirios Kyrgiakos, Marvin Andrews or Julien Rodriguez in central defence.

"As I said to Fanfan, some players may not fancy the situation of not being first or even second choice," said the manager.

"You just have to wait and see what unfolds. I don't know if he would like to move on, but I think he would like to play regular football."
