Smith knows of Ibrox pressure |
Scotland manager Walter Smith has praised Alex McLeish for his handling of speculation over his Rangers future. Smith, who managed Rangers for seven years, feels McLeish deserves credit for coping with pressure after he was given a short stay of execution.
He said: "Alex has shown a great deal of dignity and character in handling a very awkward and difficult situation.
"He has suffered a bit of pressure throughout his time at Rangers but has won an awful lot of trophies for them."
The next three fixtures against Celtic, Porto and Hibernian are vital for McLeish but Smith is encouraged by his response to previous adversity.
"Alex has come out of every crisis with something to show for it,"
