Sotirios Kyrgiakos has vowed to repay Alex McLeish for bringing him back to Rangers after protracted negotiations. Kyrgiakos was on loan from Panathinaikos last season and his return on a permanent basis did not go through until just before the deadline.
"I want to repay the faith shown in me," said the Greek defender, who scored in last week's defeat of Porto.
"The fans have welcomed me back so warmly. I also have a huge thank you for the manager."
The 26-year-old had initially turned down an offer from Rangers in the summer with his agent claiming interest from other clubs but eventually agreed a deal.
"I want to make sure I do everything in my power to bring more success to this club," Kyrgiakos told Rangers' website.
"The manager has worked so hard to make this a successful club and he deserves great credit.
"He has a strong mentality and he knows that hard work is what this game is all about.
"He took the team to two trophies last year in difficult circumstances and nobody should forget that.
"I believe that we are stronger than we were last season and, with Alex McLeish at the helm, we can enjoy more success."
