Gayle has no regrets

Marcus Gayle insists he has no regrets about moving to Rangers, despite failing to halt the wind of change sweeping the top of Scottish football.

And the former Wimbledon striker insists that the Ibrox club will be back among the silverware next term.

Gayle moved to Glasgow in a 1m deal last month but has not had the best of starts in Scotland.

He has failed to register a goal in three first-team outings and being part of a side that lost 2-0 at home to both Dundee sides.

Defending Scottish champions Rangers are destined to miss out on silverware this season.

But Gayle remains confident he has made the right career move after suffering the horror of relegation from the Premiership with Wimbledon last season.

First goal is not far away

"It has been interesting since I arrived," he told Rangers News.

"Everyday has been different - I'm certainly learning a few more languages - and I'm just beginning to settle down.

"My time at Wimbledon was educational and it helped to build my character and develop me as a person.

"But coming to Rangers is a bonus and I have fitted in well.

"I'm patient. It has taken me a few years to get to a club of this size and I'm sure the first goal won't be far away."

Manager Dick Advocaat gambled at the weekend by throwing five regular first-teamers into his starting line-up against Dundee United even though they were all short of match practice.

The move failed spectacularly as the Taysiders defeated Rangers for the second time on the trot and victory over Hibernian at Easter Road on Sunday is essential to keep a firm grip on the second Champions League spot.

Chance to rebuild

Gayle said: "I believe the best things come to those who wait.

"This club has been used to winning at least one or two trophies a season for as long as I can remember.

"This campaign it was not to be, but we have the chance to rebuild and really go for it next year.

"If we can muster some good results before the end of the season, we will be set for a good year next time around.

"We'll be ready to grab trophies."
