Ferguson calls time on his career
Former Rangers and Sunderland midfielder Derek Ferguson has announced his retirement at the age of 38.

Ferguson, now with Raith Rovers, had found it difficult to recover from major knee surgery in November.

The brother of Rangers and Scotland captain Barry had played just 11 times for the Second Division club since joining them in the summer.

Rovers were Ferguson's 12th club, having been released by Hamilton Academical last season.

He had started his career at Ibrox before moving to Hearts, Sunderland, Falkirk, Dunfermline and Partick Thistle.

Ferguson moved to Adelaide Force before returning to Scotland to join Ross County then on to Clydebank, Alloa Athletic and Hamilton.
