The former Hibs man has netted 11 times for Queens this term |
Queen of the South striker Stephen Dobbie has signed a one-year contract extension to stay at Palmerston until summer 2009. Dobbie joined the Dumfries club in January 2007 from St Johnstone on a free transfer and has scored 22 goals for the club.
"I knew other clubs were interested but I wanted to stay with Queens." he told the club's website.
"It's a good club, and they look after their players, so I was happy to sign."
The Doonhamers' manager Gordon Chisholm was relieved his top scorer has decided to extend his stay.
"He's a born striker. I'm delighted as other teams were waiting on the wings to snap him up," he said.
The club has also agreed a similar deal with midfielder, Neil Scally, who is out for the rest of the season after getting injured against Dunfermline in December.
"Just before he was injured Neil and I 'shook hands' on an extension to his existing contract and I'm hoping to finalise it soon," said Chisholm
"Neil is as hard as nails and made from girders, so I'm confident he'll make a full recovery and be back to his brilliant best for next season."
