QPR boss Neil Warnock has no plans for January signings

Warnock's side have made a superb start to the Championship season

QPR boss Neil Warnock is happy with his current squad and has no current plans to recruit any new players when the transfer window reopens in January.

Warnock's side are six points clear at the top of the Championship table after an unbeaten start to the season.

"I was asked five weeks ago what I needed," Warnock told BBC London 94.9. "I said I don't want anything.

"I want to get the lads that are injured fit and then we'll have a look at it again in January."

Warnock said last weekend's last-gasp 2-1 win at Crystal Palace proved his squad's strength in depth.

Substitutes Mikele Leigertwood and Tommy Smith combined to set up Heidar Helguson's injury-time winner at Selhurst Park.

"Last season in particular, we didn't have a bench that you could change games with," said Warnock. "We had youngsters.

"But now we have got people on the bench who can change games. We've got three or four lads who aren't in the team now who are coming back to fitness.

"It's great for me. I'll have to make decisions about who to leave out rather than who to bring in."

Warnock insisted that it was too early to get too excited about QPR's fine start to the season - although he admitted a return of 26 points from the opening 10 games was beyond his 'wildest dream'.

"It's difficult because managers all know it's such a long season with 46 games - and I think the league starts taking shape after 10 games.

"But to be where we are is remarkable really.

"It couldn't have gone any better really, could it?

"We could have lost some of the games, but we've had the spirit and the ability to get results probably when we shouldn't have, and that's why we're where we are.

"If any manager says they expect to get 26 points out of 10 games, they're telling porkies. It's not in my wildest dream.

"I thought we'd have a decent start. We signed some good players in the summer, not just the ones we paid money for, but also the bread and butter players which I don't think QPR have had too many of over the years.

"We've always looked at the glamorous side of things, but you need those bread and butter players and I've been very pleased with three or four players like that."

With his side in such good form, the R's boss admits that he is having a fantastic time.

"I've never been happier," he added. "I saw Michael Buble on Monday.

"I couldn't have done that in Sheffield or anywhere else could I?

"I just love being down here in London and I never thought I'd ever say that.

"I thought it was the back of beyond when you got past Watford, but I love the rapport. Not just with our own fans.

"I love going out in town and talking to the Tottenham and the Chelsea and the Arsenal fans.

"They all make me aware of how good their sides are and it's great to talk to fans from other clubs around the place.

"Long may it continue - we'd like to be up there with them."
