Queens Park Rangers have signed Arsenal striker Jay Simpson on a season-long loan deal.

The 20-year-old, who has had loan spells at Millwall and West Brom, is expected to go straight into the squad for Saturday's trip to Scunthorpe.

QPR boss Jim Magilton told the club's website: "Jay will prove to be a quality addition to the squad.

"We're delighted to have been given the opportunity to provide him with a platform to showcase his ability."

Simpson has been at Arsenal since the age of nine and was named on the Gunners' bench for the first time in October 2006.

Magilton said: "He's already shown glimpses of his quality at Arsenal and during loan spells elsewhere, and we'll be looking for him to continue his progression under our guidance."

Simpson became the first ever player to score a hat-trick at the Emirates Stadium for Arsenal's Under-18 side in a 3-2 FA Youth Cup win against Cardiff City.

In August 2007, he joined Millwall on loan and was voted PFA Fans' Player of the Year.

Simpson then returned to the Emirates where he made his full debut for Arsenal in a 6-0 Carling Cup win over Sheffield United.

The striker scored his first two senior goals for the Club in a League Cup tie at home to Wigan Athletic in November 2008.

One month later, he signed a new contract at Arsenal but was loaned out to West Bromwich Albion for the remainder of the season.

He went on to make 16 appearances for the Baggies, scoring two goals, before returning to North London at the end of the 2008/09 campaign.
