Vine comeback halted by surgery

Rowan Vine
Vine has not played since April

Queens Park Rangers striker Rowan Vine has undergone further surgery to correct his fractured leg.

The 26-year-old has been sidelined since April after breaking his leg during a freak training ground incident last season.

Vine opted for surgery after several consultations because part of the fracture in his tibia was not responding as quickly as expected.

It is still not known how long his recovery will take.

Head physiotherapist Paul Hunter at Queens Park Rangers told the club's website: "The surgery went as well as we could have expected, with no complications.

"Rather than letting nature take care of it, we're hoping and praying that by having this surgery, it will speed up the healing process."
