Ainsworth proud to hold QPR reins

QPR caretaker manager Gareth Ainsworth
Ainsworth is happy to be in temporary charge at Loftus Road

QPR caretaker boss Gareth Ainsworth is convinced the Loftus Road club will go from strength to strength despite the sacking of Iain Dowie last week.

"QPR is very strong with the result of what happened and will stay strong, nothing is going to break us," Ainsworth told BBC London 94.9.

"Iain was a great mentor for me when he was here, he gave me the reserve job, I never thought I'd be thrust in to this.

"I'm a very proud man, I am happy to be doing the job."

Ainsworth has been appointed as caretaker manager until further notice.

The 35-year-old still has a playing contract with the Championship outfit and had previously been player-coach at Loftus Road.

The former Cardiff City man joined QPR after he was released from the Bluebirds in June 2003.
