Watford winger Lee Cook admits he would like to have stayed at QPR after his loan spell ended at Loftus Road.
Cook, 20, is returning to Vicarage Road despite Rangers manager Ian Holloway's desperate attempts to keep him.
The Hornets see Cook as a possible replacement for Stephen Glass, whose contract expires in the summer.
Cook could be involved in the FA Cup for semi-finalists Watford, but claims he is disappointed he will not be able to finish the season with promotion-chasing Rangers.
"I would love to have stayed because there are some big games coming up," he said.
"I would like to be a part of it but that can't happen, so I have to go back to Watford and get on with it.
"I'll certainly be looking out for QPR's results, starting with the game against Wigan on Saturday."
