![]() | Wednesday, 7 March, 2001, 17:43 GMT Dowie leaves Loftus Road ![]() Dowie's exit comes shortly after Francis stepped down Iain Dowie has left QPR after new manager Ian Holloway decided to bring in his own management team. Dowie, who was assistant to former boss Gerry Francis, has had the remainder of his contract, which runs to the end of the season, paid by Rangers. His departure ends his three-year association with the club he joined as a player in January 1998 from West Ham, and Holloway was quick to thank him for his efforts.
"Iain has worked very hard for the club, and I'm sure he will do very well in the future. We wish him all the best," he said. "When I got the job I talked about bringing in my own backroom staff which most people do in football. "I've taken this decision now in order to give him the best chance of getting another job," Holloway told the club's official website. Holloway has also trimmed his squad, with Finn Antti Heinola and Leon Jeanne leaving Loftus Road. Defender Heinola is returning to Finland to study for an economics degree, and his contract has been terminated by mutual consent. Jeanne leaves Rangers after completing a period of notice issued by the club. | Internet links: The BBC is not responsible for the content of external internet sites Other top QPR stories: Links to top QPR stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||
