Preston boss Alan Irvine has demanded his players build on the performance they showed in the 2-0 victory over league leaders Stoke on Tuesday.

The victory moved North End out of the Championship's bottom three and Irvine wants the same commitment against Crystal Palace this Saturday.

"This is what I now expect from the players," he told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"They know that there are people sitting on the bench who are waiting for a chance to get back in."

When you've got the capability to run from box to box that he has then you have to use that

Irvine also paid tribute to Richard Chaplow for scoring his first goals since arriving at Deepdale from West Bromwich Albion in January.

"His asset is obviously his running and I spoke to him before the game and said that's what I'm looking for him to do.

"Of course I want him to get on the ball and make some passes, but when you've got the capability to run from box to box that he has then you have to use that."
