Dichio is set for a spell in the MLS |
Preston striker Danny Dichio has joined Major League Soccer side Toronto FC. The 32-year-old, whose wife holds a United States passport, has been released by North End with immediate effect to join Toronto.
Dichio was expected to make the switch in the summer but had to be signed by 15 April.
Toronto, who are managed by ex-Scotland striker Mo Johnston, are in their first MLS season and have been given extra funding, which had to be spent by then.
Dichio scored only seven times for Preston in a near two-year stay at the Championship club.
He joined Preston following earlier spells with Millwall, QPR, Sunderland, West Brom and Sampdoria.
