Preston striker David Nugent has been named as the Championship's player of the month for January. The England under-21 international found the net two times in four league games helping lift the Lilywhites into the automatic promotion places.
Nugent also scored in England Under-21's 2-2 draw with Spain.
The other contenders, all strikers, were Steve Howard of Derby County, Barry Hayles of Plymouth Argyle and Sunderland's David Connolly.
