Lonergan had been in excellent form |
Preston's play-off hopes have been dealt a severe blow after a serious knee injury to keeper Andy Lonergan. The 21-year-old is out for at least six months after damaging his knee ligaments during training on Thursday.
"I'm gutted about losing such an important player at this stage of the season especially in the situation we are in," said manager Billy Davies.
"Andy has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament and damaged his medial ligament."
Preston, fourth in the Championship table, play leaders Ipswich on Friday.
