Preston have confirmed that they have rejected Sheffield United's bid for striker Richard Cresswell. With the transfer window closing at the end of the month, the Blades have been linked with the 27-year-old, who scored 21 goals last season.
North End manager Billy Davies told the club website: "We have received an offer that we have turned down.
"We have also had an enquiry about midfielder Dickson Etuhu but that is as far as it goes."
Preston chairman Derek Shaw added: "We have turned down a substantial bid for Richard Cresswell from Sheffield United.
"Richard has been our leading scorer for the last three or four seasons and he is not for sale."
