Preston boss Billy Davies still hopes to sign on-loan Portsmouth defender John Curtis permanently. The 26-year-old has returned to Fratton Park because of a hamstring injury, after playing 12 games for North End.
Davies told BBC Radio Lancashire: "John will be out of action for a few weeks, but we want to negotiate to get him here as a permanent fixture.
"He's the type of player we want to sign as he's got top-class pedigree and first-class experience."
