Storrie joined Portsmouth as a non-executive director in 1990

Portsmouth chief executive Peter Storrie has confirmed that he will stay on at the Premier League club.

Storrie had been considering his future after his recent takeover attempt at Fratton Park failed at the last minute.

Former owner Alexandre Gaydamak opted instead to sell to Arab businessman Sulaiman Al Fahim.

But Storrie confirmed: "I'm staying and I want to do keep working hard for this football club. I don't want to be anywhere else."

Al Fahim had already told BBC Radio Solent that he wanted to keep Peter Storrie and manager Paul Hart at the club.

And a ground-swell of support from the club's fans influenced Storrie's decision.

"I've had hundreds of emails of support from fans. You don't expect that and that helped with my decision, without doubt," he said.

"A lot of people took the time to contact me with nice messages of support. They didn't have to do that. It was greatly appreciated.

"There were others who clearly don't want me to stay. But on the whole, a lot of people have given me kind words."
