Portsmouth reject bid for Davis

Portsmouth manager Tony Adams has revealed they have turned down a bid for 29-year-old midfielder Sean Davis.

It had been reported that Bolton had made a move for Davis, but Adams said the player had been offered a new three-and-a-half-year deal.

"He's done great for this club and I would be mad to let him go somewhere else," Adams said.

"I can understand why other clubs would be interested in Sean but we need him now, so it's thanks but no thanks."

Adams added that the club was hopeful Davis would sign the new contract.

The former Fulham player has made more than 100 appearances for the club since signing from Tottenham in January 2006.

Davis was in the line-up for Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Fulham which saw the Fratton Park outfit slip to 15th in the table, just one point above the relegation zone.

The defeat at Craven Cottage was Pompey's sixth in seven games and left the club without a Premier League victory since their 3-2 win over Blackburn in November.
