Wales international defender Richard Duffy has been told he can leave Premier League club Portsmouth.
The 23-year-old right-back has made only one start for Pompey since joining the south-coast club in January 2004.
Portsmouth chairman Peter Storrie confirmed Duffy has asked to leave and Pompey will release him from his contract if he can find another club.
"Lauren and Duffy have asked if they can leave in January and we have said they can," said Storrie.
Duffy was a highly rated teenager during his early days at his home-town club Swansea City and attracted attention from a number of Premier League clubs.
The then Pompey boss Harry Redknapp paid a six-figure sum for the Welshman and Duffy was touted as a Wales regular for the next generation after making his international debut in a 0-0 draw against Slovenia in August 2005.
Duffy spent three stints on loan at Championship club Coventry City and was also loaned to Burnley and back to Swansea in order to get first-team experience.
But Duffy failed to break into the Portsmouth first-team squad and now has requested a move in the January transfer window.
Former Arsenal and Cameroon defender Lauren, 31, has also been granted a switch and Storrie said: "They have to find new clubs and their agents are currently circulating their names."
