Kaboul last played in the 4-1 defeat against Birmingham in March
Younes Kaboul says he does not see his move from Tottenham to Portsmouth as a career gamble.
The French defender was speaking for the first time since his move from Spurs on Monday.
The 22-year-old also reiterated to BBC Radio Solent his belief that Pompey can clinch a top six Premier League finish.
"Portsmouth finished eighth last season and Tottenham finished 12th, so that is nothing. Portsmouth can finish maybe in the top five this season," he said.
"I'm very happy at Portsmouth. I know some of the players already, so it's better for me to come here," he added.
Kaboul completed the move to Fratton Park after falling out of favour with Spurs boss Juande Ramos.
He joined the White Hart Lane club after being signed by Martin Jol in the summer of 2007 but struggled to find a berth in the team after the Dutchman departed.
