On-loan Portsmouth defender Glen Johnson faces a spell out of action after injuring his ankle in training. Right-back Johnson, who joined Pompey for the season from champions Chelsea, will have a scan on his ankle once the swelling goes down.
"We don't know yet how long he is likely to be missing", said a spokesman for the south coast club.
But there are fears that the damage could be a ligament problem, which could mean a long absence.
