Defender Dejan Stefanovic has signed a new contract that is set to keep him at Portsmouth until June 2008. The 31-year-old Pompey captain, who also skippered Serbia and Montenegro, joined from Vitesse Arnhem in 2003.
He told the Portsmouth website: "A little while back there was a lot of speculation that I was going to leave but I always said I was going to stay.
"This is the proof I am going to stay here for a long time. I am delighted. Everyone knows I like this club."
Stefanovic revealed that one of the reasons behind his decision to remain with the south-coast outfit is manager Harry Redknapp.
"I am not interested in moving to another country or other clubs because I have settled down and because of Harry and all the other people here I am still going to play for the club," he added.
