Petrov has been at Celtic Park since 1999 |
Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has revealed an interest in Celtic midfielder Stilian Petrov. The Bulgarian international captain submitted a transfer request at the end of last season, which was rejected by the SPL champions.
Redknapp told the Scottish Sun: "I like Petrov, he is obviously a top player and I am aware of the situation.
"But I'm not going to say anything else at the moment, because he is one of Gordon Strachan's main players."
Petrov, 26, signed a new deal in January committing him to Celtic until 2010 and it would take a substantial offer to prize him away from Glasgow.
Last week, Portsmouth chairman Milan Mandaric told BBC Sport the Fratton Park club were no longer interested in Celtic striker John Hartson.
And Redknapp confirmed that he was unlikely to move for the 31-year-old Welsh forward.
He added: "We were interested in big John at the start of the year but I couldn't say something will definitely happen this time."
