There had been doubts about Mandaric's Portsmouth future |
Portsmouth chairman Milan Mandaric insists he will stay at the club next season, which could help keep Harry Redknapp at Fratton Park. Redknapp has refused to sign a new contract until he gains reassurances about Mandaric's position.
"My future here is very solid," said Mandaric. "I will be chairman next season for the whole of the season."
Last year he sold half his stake in the club to Alexandre Gaydamak and still plans to sell the other half to him.
"One day I will leave and hand everything over to 'Sacha' (Gaydamak)," he added. "But before I go I want to see the stadium rebuilt and the club in a new training ground.
"I've been talking to 'Sacha' every day about Harry and we both respect him and think he has done a tremendous job. So we will sit down with him towards the end of the week and discuss his situation.
"I can't see why he won't be here next season."
The 67-year-old Mandaric has been in charge at Portsmouth for seven years.
And in December he ensured Redknapp's return to the club, which resulted in them staying in the Premiership for another season.
