Portsmouth have made midfielder Salif Diao their third deadline day signing on a season-long loan from Liverpool. The 28-year-old Senegal international joined the Reds for 5,000,000 in 2002 but started only 19 games.
Diao joins Uruguay striker Dario Silva and French midfielder Frank Songo'o as new arrivals at Pompey.
Chief executive Peter Storrie said: "Given these additions to the options we already have, we have a team capable of taking us in the right direction."
Diao, who has scored three goals in 24 caps for Senegal, began his career with Monaco in 1997, spending three years in the Principality before moving on to Sedan.
Pompey will have the option of buying him when his loan agreement comes to an end.
"Salif is a competitive midfield man and with his addition we now have a very competitive midfield in itself," Storrie added.
