Port Vale defender Gareth Owen believes his side have a chance of causing an upset against QPR in their Carling Cup first round tie.
Micky Adams' side travel to Loftus Road on Tuesday after winning their League Two opener 1-0 at Bury.
"You've got to strap the tin hats on and see if you can grind out a win," Owen told BBC Radio Stoke.
"Everyone expects QPR to win. We've just got to turn up, show what we're all about and then see what happens."
QPR began the Championship season with a 4-0 rout of Barnsley but Owen says that Vale are confident and will look to attack at Loftus Road.
"We'll give it a good go," he added. "We won't just rest on our laurels and probably try and take the game to them."
