Micky Adams undecided on Port Vale goalkeeper Joe Anyon
Anyon missed 11 months of football after breaking his leg in March 2009
Port Vale manager Micky Adams has refused to comment on whether Joe Anyon will keep his place in the team after an error in the 1-1 draw at Cheltenham.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper misjudged a punch, which allowed Medy Elito to level the scores at Whaddon Road.
"You people [the media] can report on what you've seen, that will be harsh enough punishment without my comment on it," Adams told BBC Radio Stoke.
"I won't add fuel to the fire, you speculate about it all week."
Anyon has started the last seven matches for Vale, after missing 11 months of football with a broken leg.
His deputy, Chris Martin, had been one of the star performers in the team this season, but with Anyon out of contract in the summer, Adams chose to give the former Blackburn trainee a chance to prove he is worthy of another deal at Vale Park.
He's just got to keep his head up and hopefully it will come right for him
Port Vale defender John McCombe
But defender John McCombe has backed Anyon to recover from the mistake:
"He'll be a bit down because he's cost us a goal, but all players do it, it's just highlighted more when a keeper does it.
"He's just got to keep his head up and hopefully it will come right for him."
The draw leaves Vale 11th in League Two, five points from the play-off places with nine matches left to play.
