Stockley wants Vale improvement

Port Vale have not reached their full potential and need to improve quickly to win promotion from League Two, according to captain Sam Stockley.

Vale have followed an opening-day win at Luton with a defeat by Accrington and a draw at Dagenham & Redbridge.

Stockley told BBC Radio Stoke: "There are things we can improve on, we're not playing as we would like to play.

"The gaffer has asked questions of us, and if you don't answer them you know you will be out of the team."

Manager Lee Sinnott was very critical of his team's performance in the 1-1 draw against Dagenham, a match in which Stockley was sent off with 10 minutes to go.

But Stockley believes that despite a slow start to the season, Sinnott is the man to take the club forward.

"He's one of the best managers in this league.

"His man-management skills are second to none, and the way he goes around the squad and speaks to everyone, imposing his ideas on everyone, is very good."
