Shane Tudor has said he wants to fight for his place at Port Vale, but has not ruled out a move away from the club.
Tudor was transfer-listed by manager Lee Sinnott and spent some time on loan with League Two side Shrewsbury Town.
He told BBC Radio Stoke: "I've never moaned or kicked up a fuss while I've been here, but I want to play football.
"I'll give it my best shot and if the manager wants to go in a different direction, then he's fully entitled to do that."
Tudor was signed on a free transfer from Leyton Orient in the summer of 2007 and started eight league games for Vale.
But a change of manager and a number of injury problems kept him away from the first team setup for the rest of the season, which ended in Vale being relegated to League Two.
Tudor, 26, was part of the Orient squad promoted from that division in 2006, and he thinks he can perform there again for Vale next season.
"I know I can play at this level, when Orient got promoted I felt I played as well as anyone in that league," he said.
