Vale manager Lee Sinnott thinks Herd will be a useful addition |
Aston Villa youngster Chris Herd has joined League One side Port Vale on an initial one-month loan. The 18-year-old Australian can play in midfield or at right-back and is hoping to help the club move out of the relegation zone.
"I first heard about Vale's interest yesterday and jumped at the chance of coming," he told the club's website.
"I feel I can offer something and I am sure I can help the lads climb off the foot of the table."
Herd added: "I came over here [to England] by myself as a 15-year-old and had a two-week trial at Villa.

"I then signed a three-year contract but I now need to get a few games under my belt." Vale manager Lee Sinnott was pleased to have signed the youngster: "I am delighted Chris has agreed to come to the club.
"He can play across the midfield and can also play at right back and I am sure he will be able to do us a job."
