| Manchester City midfielder Marc Laird has become Lee Sinnott's first signing as manager of Port Vale. The 21-year-old Scotsman will be at Vale Park for a month. He told the Port Vale website: "I was first aware of Vale's interest a couple of weeks ago, but I picked up an ankle injury so I couldn't come. "It's a big opportunity for me to do well and hopefully impress the manager at Manchester City at the same time, but I don't see it as a step down."
