Fletcher grateful for Argyle chance

Crystal Palace midfielder Carl Fletcher has said he is delighted to have extended his loan spell with Plymouth Argyle until the end of the season.

The 28-year-old Wales international has started all six of Argyle's matches since moving to Home Park in February.

He told BBC Spotlight: "I'm glad the manager wants to keep me here until the end of the season.

"I'm delighted to stay, there's a great bunch of lads in the changing room who all want to work hard for one another."

Fletcher joined Palace from West Ham for £400,000 in June 2006 but has made just seven appearances for the Eagles this season.

The former Bournemouth man also spent a month on loan with Nottingham Forest, playing five games for the Reds before returning to Selhurst Park in November.

"It wasn't working out at all really up there [at Palace], so to come down here it was nice to play," said Fletcher.

"I'm grateful to the manager for bringing me down here."

Argyle currently lie 20th in the Championship, two points above the relegation zone, but Fletcher said he is confident that the Pilgrims can beat the drop.

"If you put in the right performances and everyone pushes in the right direction then you should get the points you deserve," said Fletcher.
