Nigeria defender Taribo West has been cleared to play for Plymouth after being granted a work permit at a tribunal in Sheffield on Thursday. The 31-year-old had signed for Argyle last month, but was then stranded in Italy by passport and visa problems.
West is due to receive an Italian passport in September - which will allow him free passage within the EU.
He has now received international clearance, and could make his debut against his old club Derby on Saturday.
Plymouth presented a dossier to the tribunal which included testimonials from former England captain Alan Shearer, Nigeria team-mate Kanu, ex-Derby manager Jim Smith and Plymouth City Council leader Tudor Evans.
