Ferguson has decisions to make ahead of the Leicester clash on Saturday
Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson is backing defender Chris Westwood to impress if he is needed as cover over the Christmas period.
Posh are without Gabby Zakuani until the New Year after his three-month loan deal from Fulham came to an end.
Ferguson told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "The key to our run is that we've had a consistent back four and goalkeeper.
"But Westwood is a model pro and I've no doubts that if he is chucked in he won't let us down."
Zakuani has agreed a deal to sign for Posh permanently, but the transfer cannot be completed until 1 January.
Ferguson is set to choose between Westwood and Charlie Lee to replace Zakuani in the side against Leicester on Saturday.
Left-back Tommy Williams should be fit despite being withdrawn at half-time in the draw with Oldham.
"He just twisted his ankle towards the end of the first half, but he should be training on Wednesday or Thursday and should be fit for the Leicester game," added Ferguson.
