Mackail-Smith has scored 10 league goals so far this season
Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson has called on striker Craig Mackail-Smith to be more clinical in front of goal.
Mackail-Smith, 24, scored a brace in Saturday's 3-3 draw with Carlisle, but missed a number of further chances.
Former Wrexham star Ferguson told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "I can't fault him for effort, but his ratio of goals to chances has to improve.
"He knows that and we work on it every day in training."
Mackail-Smith is the joint top scorer in League One with 10 goals alongside Carlisle's Danny Graham and Rickie Lambert of Bristol Rovers.
Meanwhile defender Shane Blackett looks set for a prolonged spell on the sidelines after dislocating his shoulder for the second time in a month on Saturday.
"I really feel for the lad because he's just got back fit, but there was an element of risk," Ferguson said.
"The problem now is that they will have to pin it so he's going to be out for three or four months."
