Wright feels his reputation was harmed by his sacking |
Former Peterborough boss Mark Wright has launched a legal action against the club, following his sacking on Tuesday. Wright, 42, is suing the League Two club for breach of contract and the harm caused to his reputation.
He was dismissed for gross misconduct after failing to attend a disciplinary hearing, but told the Peterborough Evening Telegraph: "I am deeply hurt.
"What has happened is a scandal and I have to protect my reputation which is
why we're prepared to go to court."
The former Liverpool and England defender added: "I have now heard certain things through my solicitor about what I have supposedly said and done, and I categorically refute all of the accusations.

"I never wanted to do anything but manage Peterborough United and I still believe I was the right man for the job. "I built a good side, one which could have been top, or at least in the automatic promotion places, with a bit more luck.
"The players I brought to the club signed because of me so I feel sorry for them that I had to leave. I still want those players to do well and to achieve everything in football they want to achieve.
"I'm a players' manager. I don't do all the other stuff behind the scenes that managers are expected to do these days, but I was good at my job, as seventh place would suggest."
He previously managed Southport, Oxford United and Chester City before taking over at London Road in May 2005.
