Former Wales manager Bobby Gould quit his position as Peterborough's head coach at half-time during their LDV Vans 1-0 defeat at Bristol City. Paul Heffernan's seventh minute goal put City through, and after the match manager Barry Fry revealed his right-hand man had left the club.
"Bob told me at half-time that he didn't want to be associated with the team any longer, that was it," he said.
Peterborough are 19th in League One after a poor start to the season.
"I should imagine I have had the worst month personally in my life - and that took the biscuit," Fry told the club's website.
"At half-time, we said a few things and Bob never contributed anything and as I was going out for the second half, Bob said 'that's it'."

However, Fry insisted he had not fallen out with Gould, the former Wales, Wimbledon and West Brom manager. "There is not a rift as far as I'm concerned - I applaud him for everything he has done," he said.
"This has completely knocked me over."
Peterborough had registered just three wins in 10 games in League One before their LDV Vans Trophy exit on Wednesday.
