Lovell spent last season with Falkirk in the Scottish Premier League
Former Aberdeen and Dundee striker Steve Lovell has signed for Partick Thistle until January.
The 28-year-old was released by Falkirk in the summer and had been training with his first club, Bournemouth.
But a transfer embargo imposed on the English League Two outfit prevented the striker signing a contract there.
Manager Ian McCall told Thistle's website: "He has bags of SPL experience with Dundee, Aberdeen and Falkirk and has plenty of pace about him."
Lovell, who had initially moved from Bournemouth to Portsmouth, had spent a season with the Bairns in the Scottish Premier League after spells at Dens Park and Pittodrie.
He has option to go back to England and we are fine about that

"The deal we have agreed with him will see him stay at Firhill until early January and we will look at the situation again then," said McCall.
"He has option to go back to England and we are fine about that. What we hope, though, is that he scores some goals, likes it here and wants to stay."
Thistle are hoping to gain international clearance to include Lovell in the squad to face visitors Raith Rovers on Saturday.
McCall was delighted that Thistle's directors had agreed that now was the time to bolster the squad with his side sitting fourth, just three points adrift of leaders and title favourites Dundee.
