Kerr has won three caps for Scotland

Dundee have completed the signing of former Inverness midfielder Brian Kerr on a three-year contract.

The 28-year-old left the relegated club at the end of the season after his short-term deal came to an end.

Kerr trained with his new team-mates for the first time on Monday as they began their pre-season regime.

He is the sixth summer addition to the Dens Park club after Leigh Griffiths, Chris Casement, Richie Hart, Sean Higgins and Pat Clarke.

Kerr, who rejected the offer of a new contract with Inverness, was looking forward to working with manager Jocky Scott.

"It's my first time working with Jocky," he said. "I've seen him working with other boys, but I'm pleased and looking forward to working with him for a long time.

"I'm a midfield player who starts attacks. I think, too, that I can get on the end of things and hopefully add one or two goals in there as well."

Kerr began his career at Newcastle, going on loan to Coventry and Livingston, before landing a permanent deal at Motherwell in 2004.

His appearances at Fir park were limited due to a nine-month lay-off with a cruciate knee ligament injury.

In 2007, the player moved to Hibernian and was a regular under John Collins, but he fell out of favour with the manager's successor, Mixu Paatelainen, and his contract was terminated in September 2008.

Kerr considered quitting football altogether as he was having difficulty finding a new club but was given another chance by his former Steelmen boss, Terry Butcher, at Caley Thistle in February.

The midfielder also won three Scotland caps against New Zealand, Estonia and Trinidad and Tobago.

Meanwhile, Dundee have released Canada international midfielder Chris Pozniak.
