Cook joined Crawley in 2007.

Former Oxford United forward Jamie Cook was close to a return to the club this summer according to United's manager Darren Patterson.

"I had him in to offer him a deal and he disappeared. Obviously he was offered a huge financial deal which we couldn't match," said Patterson.

"He got offered a huge package and at the end of the day he couldn't turn it down so good luck to him."

Cook has scored four times for Crawley in the Blue Square Premier this season.

The 29-year-old started his career with Oxford, who are his hometown club, scoring seven goals in 77 appearances.
