Oldfield handed new role
Oxford United have confirmed that striker David Oldfield has been appointed the club's new assistant manager.

The 35-year-old has signed a new player-coach deal that will see him working alongside manager Ian Atkins. "I'll be number two to Ian and work alongside Darren Patterson, who has done such a brilliant job with the youth team," OIdfield told the club's website.

"Hopefully we can learn from each other and from the gaffer as well.

"I'd like to keep playing, but I will try and combine the two roles and get the best out of the lads at the same time.

"They have done all I've asked them to do this pre-season and have really helped me, and now I can't wait to get started properly."
