Weston's effort pleases McParland

Notts County manager Ian McParland has praised winger Myles Weston for his work-rate and progress this season.

The 19-year-old has caught the eye of his boss with his attacking football, which included the winning goal against Doncaster in the Carling Cup.

"He has impressed me with his work rate in the games, and his ability is there," the Scot told the club website.

"He has worked really hard in pre-season and he is going along nicely, but he still has a bit to go."

McParland knows there is still work to be done by the teenager.

"We have worked on things in training with him where he should get a few more shots in - and he has been doing that. We want him to believe a little more, and not take the easy option," added McParland.

"If the option isn't there, don't cross early. Get a shot in, drive into the box, get a goal, get a penalty - those are the things we are telling him.

"It is all a learning curve for him, but he is coming along well."
