It's a good feeling to know the management still believe I'm capable of doing a good job
Kevin Pilkington
Notts County goalkeeper Kevin Pilkington says he is thrilled to have committed himself to the club after signing a new two-year contract.
The 34-year-old, who missed the final two-and-a-half months of last season after breaking his right leg, said: "I never thought about going elsewhere.
"It crossed my mind when I got injured in February that I was out of contract in the summer and you do have concerns.
"But players earn their contracts and I was delighted with my form last term."
Pilkington joined the Magpies from Mansfield in 2005 and has made 116 league appearances in three seasons at Meadow Lane.
He added: "I've signed for another two years but even after that, I'll be looking for another three of four seasons of playing football.
"I keep myself in good shape, enjoy keeping fit and I'm loving my football, so I can't wait for pre-season to come around.
"You can never take things for granted and the management could have turned round to me and said I was no longer needed - so it's a good feeling to know they still believe I'm capable of doing a good job."
Magpies boss Ian McParland is delighted to have yet another key piece of his jigsaw in place and he said: "Pilks was in excellent form before he got injured and I'm looking for him to continue where he left off after a good pre-season.
"There's still a lot of hard work to be done over the next few weeks as we look to re-shape the team, but we're putting the building blocks in place."
