Nottingham Forest striker Grant Holt is struggling to be fit for Saturday's season opener against Bournemouth. Holt has been troubled by a groin injury since the end of last season and he suffered a recurrence during last week's pre-season game against Derby.
Boss Colin Calderwood told the club's website: "Grant could prove to be a long-term problem. To shut it down and get it right could take months.
"We've got to try to manage the injury as well as possible."
Calderwood will definitely be without Nathan Tyson (knee) and Junior Agogo has only just returned to fitness following a hamstring injury.
