City chief executive David McNally does not want the pitch invasion repeated

Norwich City will ban supporters who invaded the Carrow Road pitch after the recent Gillingham match - but only if there is a repeat this Saturday.

Fans identified either on the day or by video face an indefinite ban unless all supporters remain in the stands after the final match against Carlisle.

The amnesty will not apply to supporters who injured stewards.

Chief executive David McNally told the club's website:"The safety of everyone is of paramount importance."

Two safety stewards were hurt when exuberant fans ran on to the pitch after the final whistle of City's 2-0 win over Gillingham.

The club does not want a repeat when the squad and management team are presented with their League One winners' medals and the trophy after the final game of the season against Carlisle United.

"If all supporters respect these presentations and enjoy them with the rest of us from the safety of the stands, then we will grant an amnesty against those set to be banned following the Gillingham game.

"Once again, if there are people on the pitch then we may well be forced to cancel the presentation of medals and trophy," McNally added.

City manager Paul Lambert said he hopes everyone at the ground is safe and happy on Saturday.

"We want to celebrate with everyone in the proper fashion after the Carlisle match - so please can I appeal on behalf of the squad and the coaching staff for supporters to work with us to make sure everything goes ahead as planned," he said.
