Canaries captain remains upbeat

Norwich City skipper Mark Fotheringham admits the team are taking time to adjust following the departure of key players this summer.

The Canaries have lost and drawn in their opening two league games.

And Fotheringham admits the team are missing departed stars Darren Huckerby and Dion Dublin, but are adapting well.

"We've lost that quality, but we're dealing with it, and we've bought a different type of quality in, like Wes [Hoolahan]," he told BBC Radio Norfolk.

He added: "We were so used to having Darren on the wing and Dion up front, when I got the ball I knew Darren would be wide, and with Dion you knew if you hit him with the ball he would hold it."

Fotheringham is certain though that new signings like Irish midfielder Hoolahan will begin to show their quality.

"It can be frustrating at times for fans when you're losing the ball because you're trying to find him in the areas, but when you do find him you know that Wes can kill teams off with that final ball."

City have only found the net once in three games this season, and Glenn Roeder is known to be hunting for a big striker before the transfer window shuts at the end of August.

Fotheringham believes, despite the lack of goals, the team is doing all the right things.

"If that's us needing time then I'd have to see what we'll look like in December, because if it really clicks we'll be due to give a few teams a bit of a doing," he said.
