The skipper's armband was handed around during the last campaign, but Canaries boss Nigel Worthington thought long and hard about the appointment.

He told the club's website: "We spoke to Adam and he was confident and comfortable in having the armband.

"He is positive it won't take anything away from his performances and that is very important."
